MLBTradeRumors · Rotowire · MLB.comBetts went 1-for-5 in his first game back from a 37-day oblique IL stint, but the night belonged to San Francisco. Trevor McDonald (filling Logan Webb's rotation slot) gave the Giants 5+ solid innings; Willy Adames went 3-for-6 with 2 RBI and a 9th-inning daggers; Alex Vesia walked in a bases-loaded run in the 7th. Final: Giants 9, Dodgers 3.
Fantasy take: Don't overreact to Betts's 1-for-5 — the timing was off after 37 days, and Roberts said he'll bat 2nd or 3rd going forward. Top-30 hitter ROS. Adames is the bigger story: 3 hits, late RBI in a key spot. He's a buy if he's been dropped in your league. McDonald with his second start of the week is also worth a flier.
The Mets called up 21-year-old top prospect A.J. Ewing (OF) for tonight's series opener vs. Detroit. He's hit .349/.481/.571 in Double-A and .326/.392/.435 in Triple-A this year, with 17 SB across both stops. Last year he stole 70 bases — that's the headline skill. He'll play all three OF spots, with CF his primary, and can fill in at 2B as well.
Fantasy take: Add Ewing in any league with active prospects, but especially in OBP and steal formats. The Mets' offense desperately needs help and Ewing has the locked playing time. Floor: 15-20 SB over the next 3 months. Ceiling: top-30 OF if the contact translates.
Henry Bolte joins the A's for tonight's game vs. the Cardinals after a .348 / 12 HR / 17 SB stretch through 37 games at Triple-A Las Vegas. The 22-year-old OF has trimmed his K-rate to 22% (a major improvement) and has stolen 40+ bases in consecutive years. With Jacob Wilson likely heading to the IL, Bolte is locked into everyday at-bats.
Fantasy take: Add aggressively in 12+ team leagues. The .348 AAA was real — the contact gains are visible in the K-rate drop. The power-speed combo is the most rare profile in fantasy. Top-40 OF rest of season floor, top-25 ceiling. He's a buy at 7.5% rostered.
Giménez went 2-for-4 with 2 HR and 5 RBI in the Blue Jays' 8-5 loss to Tampa Bay — his second 2-HR game in a week. The Jays' 2B/SS has been quietly producing: .274 BA, 8 HR, 11 SB, 27 RBI. Toronto's loss came despite the bat — Richie Palacios went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI for the Rays, Chandler Simpson added 2 SBs.
Fantasy take: Giménez is a top-15 2B rest of season — and the multi-position eligibility (2B/SS) makes him a roster Swiss army knife. If he's available in a 12-team league, he shouldn't be — claim. The recent power surge feels different from his usual line-drive profile; this might be a real Year 4 power jump.
Tatsuya Imai is activated from the IL to make his first home start for Houston tonight vs. Seattle. He's the Japanese signing the Astros gambled on — but the early returns have been brutal: 11 walks in 8.2 IP, 7.27 ERA, 54.1% strike rate (9% below league average). He previously couldn't escape the 1st inning against this same Seattle lineup. The Astros are still committed to a 6-man rotation to manage workload.
Fantasy take: Avoid in standard formats. The contact data isn't bad, but command at this level (4.3 BB/9 in MLB so far) makes him unusable as a streamer. Watch his strike rate tonight — if it climbs back to league-average (60%+), he becomes a deep-league play. In the meantime, Jeremy Peña begins a rehab assignment, which gives Houston their first real lineup boost since Correa went down.

Opportunity
Pitcher List's #2 hitter add. Bolte was raking at Triple-A Las Vegas (.348 / 12 HR / 17 SB through 37 games) with a 22% K-rate (down from 30%+ in 2024). The power-speed combo is the most fantasy-relevant profile of any rookie this year. With Jacob Wilson probably hitting the IL, Bolte has daily reps locked. Top-40 OF rest of season floor.

Slash Lines
Pitcher List's #3 hitter add. Ewing stole 70 bases in 2025 and is already at 17 in 2026. Mets desperately need offense and gave him the call-up for a reason. The .349/.481 AA OBP says the bat will play. Position flex (2B/OF) is gravy. Add in all formats with active prospects; speculative claim in 12-team.

Pre-Promotion
Pitcher List's #1 hitter add. Waldschmidt has a balanced power-speed profile (3 HR, 6 SB in limited AAA action) and the Diamondbacks gave him daily CF reps after DFAing Alek Thomas. The chase rate is 16% — that's a real plate-discipline skill. Top-50 OF rest of season; add in 12+ team leagues.

Rough MLB Debut
First Look
Pitcher List's top SP add. Snelling's MLB debut was bumpy (5 IP, multiple walks), but the AAA underlying numbers (1.86 ERA / 2.92 FIP / 40% K-rate in 29 IP) are too good to drop. Marlins' rotation has the open slot through May. Hold/add aggressively in any keeper format; speculative add in 12-team redraft.

Speed Threat
Bazzana's surface line (.213 BA) still hides the underlying skill — 23.1% walk rate, 13.5% K-rate, and 7 steals in 12 MLB games. Pitcher List still calls him a top-priority add. The 2024 #1 overall pick will hit; if he's on your wire at 40% rostered, you're getting a discount. Claim aggressively.
🌱 Stash of the Week
Jeremy Peña — SS, HOU (~65% owned)
Peña begins a rehab assignment Tuesday at Double-A Corpus Christi and could be back with the Astros within 7-10 days. He's been out since spring with a thumb issue but is the locked Astros SS once he's cleared. The 65% rostered number is misleading — for 35% of leagues he's a free claim to a starting SS in a championship-contending offense. Top-15 SS rest of season at full health. Stash now; don't wait until he's back.
Worth Reading
01
Headlines Travis Bazzana (CLE, 40%), Henry Bolte (ATH, 10%), and A.J. Ewing (NYM, 6%) as the priority hitter adds. Pitching: Robby Snelling (MIA, 27%) as the top SP and Jack Flaherty (DET, 57%) as a streamer vs. the struggling Mets. Worth scanning for the deep-league specials.
02
Deep dive on the Devers / Adames / Chapman trio for San Francisco — Devers is at a 79 wRC+ with 30.1% K-rate and bat speed in the 38th percentile, Adames is at 64 wRC+, and Chapman has dropped to 86 wRC+. All three are fantasy fade candidates if they don't turn it around. Worth reading before you make any 'buy low' trade offers.

MLBTR's full Astros note covers Imai's rotation activation tonight, Jeremy Peña's rehab start (could return within 7-10 days), Nate Pearson's transition to reliever (96.4 mph FB, locked roster spot), and Jake Meyers's upcoming rehab assignment. Houston's injury wave is finally about to break.

Injury Report
Rotowire · MLBTradeRumors · Beat ReportersIL-10
NEW: 10-day IL retroactive to May 10 with right elbow inflammation — and the timing is brutal, as Barger had just been reinstated from his ankle IL last Saturday. Yohendrick Piñango recalled to fill the OF spot. The Blue Jays gave no return timeline, but elbow inflammation typically lasts 3-5 weeks even when listed at 10 days.
IL-7
Eli White — OF, Atlanta Braves
NEW: 7-day concussion IL after Sunday's wall collision attempting to catch a Bryce Harper fly ball. He was White's primary backup CF and has been getting daily reps with Michael Harris II in a platoon role. Ha-Seong Kim activated as the corresponding roster move, returning the lineup to full strength at SS.
DTD
UPDATE: Still day-to-day pending imaging from his Sunday shoulder sprain. He hasn't played since being removed from Sunday's game. An IL stint appears probable; Hernaiz is starting in his place. Henry Bolte's promotion suggests the A's expect Wilson to miss multiple games minimum.
DTD
NEW: Day-to-day with a side injury per Rangers Notes. Eovaldi's next start was scheduled for Wednesday but is now uncertain. The Rangers haven't given a timeline; a 15-day IL trip is the realistic worst case. He was 4-4 / 4.15 ERA / 1.21 WHIP — still a top-30 SP when healthy.
Rehab
NEW: Rehab assignment begins Tuesday or Wednesday from his biceps issue. Martin had been the Rangers' high-leverage setup arm before the injury; the saves chance is real if anything happens to Robert Garcia. Texas's bullpen has been thin all year, so Martin's return restores the most reliable setup arm.

Scouting Report
Sports IllustratedSports Illustrated · by Pittsburgh Pirates OnSI · May 12
Paul Skenes Is on a Cy Young Pace Again — Tonight He Hosts the Rockies
Paul Skenes pitched 8 shutout innings last Wednesday — perfect through 4.2 — in a 1-0 win over the Diamondbacks. The 2026 line so far: 5-2 record, 2.36 ERA, 9.86 K/9, 0.714 WHIP. Tonight he faces a Rockies lineup that's batting .218 on the road and has scored more than 4 runs only twice in May. The matchup is, by any measure, the streaming dream.
What's driving the Cy Young pace: the splitter has become a wipeout pitch (47% whiff rate), and the 4-seam fastball is averaging 99.3 mph with elite vertical break. Skenes has now combined three plus-plus pitches with locked command — his BB/9 is 1.8, his K/9 is 9.9, and his Stuff+ ranks #1 in MLB. That's the profile of a future $300M-deal pitcher.
Rest-of-season outlook: top-3 SP and a real Cy Young threat in the same conversation as deGrom, Misiorowski, Soriano, and Schlittler. The only flag is wins — the Pirates are 5-2 in his starts but the bullpen has blown 2 games for him. Buy at any price; if you own him, you own one of the 3 best fantasy starters in baseball. Pittsburgh's offense is starting to wake up too (Lowe, Cruz, Gonzales hot), which should help the W column.

The VerdictTop-3 SP rest of season, real NL Cy Young threat. The splitter is a generational pitch and the command has caught up with the stuff. Tonight against COL is a streaming dream; expect 7+ IP and 9+ K. The only thing keeping him from being unanimous Cy Young is the Pirates' bullpen — but the Pittsburgh offense is finally producing runs, which should fix the win column.

Bullpen Bulletin
Closer Monkey · Beat ReportersSunday's slate: 7 saves converted (Jansen, Garcia, Domínguez, Baker, Latz, Ekness, etc.), 1 blown save. Locked closers continue to dominate — Aroldis Chapman (BOS), Cade Smith (CLE), Louis Varland (TOR), Mason Miller (SD), Paul Sewald (ARI), and Pete Fairbanks (back this week for MIA). Committees in Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Washington remain unpredictable. Bryan Abreu (HOU) is the priority vulture-save add — Hader returns around May 24.
Read the full Ledger →| Closer | Team | Status | Note |
|---|
| Pete Fairbanks | MIA | 🟢 Locked | Activated Tuesday and reclaims the closer role per Marlins manager. Faucher / Cabrera / Bender committee converted only 60% of save chances in his absence. Fairbanks was at 1.45 ERA pre-injury with 13 K / 1 BB. Top-15 RP rest of season — claim before tonight's lineup card. |
| Bryan Abreu | HOU | 🟡 Watch | Closer Monkey's vulture-save priority. With Josh Hader still 12 days from return (May 24 estimate), Abreu has the high-leverage 9th locked. He earned his 4th save Sunday; if Hader is delayed at all, Abreu becomes a top-25 RP. Speculative add in 14+ team leagues. |
| Mason Miller | SD | 🟢 Locked | 0.84 ERA, 23 K in 16 IP. The setup-to-closer story of the year — fully locked since Robert Suarez went out. Top-5 RP rest of season; claim immediately if available. |
| Aroldis Chapman | BOS | 🟢 Locked | Extended his scoreless streak with another clean 9th Sunday. 0.807 WHIP, 13 K vs. 2 BB over the recent stretch. Top-10 RP rest of season. |
| Twins + Reds + Pirates Bullpens | MIN/CIN/PIT | | Three genuine committees with no clear hierarchy. Twins: Luis García got his first save Saturday, but Eric Orze / Anthony Banda still rotate; Reds: Graham Ashcraft / Pierce Johnson split; Pirates: Soto leads Santana but neither is fully locked. Avoid in standard formats — the volatility is too high. |

X · YouTube · Instagram · TikTokAndrés Giménez goes 2-for-4 with 2 HR and 5 RBI in the Blue Jays' 8-5 loss to Tampa Bay — his second multi-HR game of the year. The 2nd-inning solo shot to right was followed by a 3-run blast in the 6th. Toronto came up short despite the bat, with Richie Palacios (3-for-4, 3 RBI) and Chandler Simpson (3-for-5, 2 SB) leading the Rays.
Giménez is a top-15 2B rest of season with 2B/SS dual-eligibility. The recent power surge feels real — claim in any league he's somehow available. Palacios and Simpson are deep-league flier candidates if you need a multi-cat OF.
Watch Rays vs. Blue Jays — Giménez 2 HR, 5 RBI →Mookie Betts returns to the Dodgers lineup after a 37-day oblique IL — and the Giants spoil the night with a 9-3 rout at Dodger Stadium. Trevor McDonald (5+ IP) anchors the SF win; Willy Adames goes 3-for-6 with 2 RBI and the dagger 9th-inning hit; Alex Vesia walks in a bases-loaded run in the 7th.
Betts went 1-for-5 in the return — don't read into it. The Dodgers' SS slot is locked through August. The Adames story is the bigger fantasy item; he's been quietly producing and the rate stats are climbing. If your league dropped him at any point, this is your buy-low window.
Watch Mookie Betts's return as Giants win 9-3 →Michael Soroka tosses 6.1 IP of shutout ball as the Diamondbacks beat the Rangers 1-0 in a pitcher's duel at Globe Life Field. Soroka's line: 6.1 IP, 0 ER, 5 K, 3 H, 1 BB on 91 pitches. The Diamondbacks now sit 4 games above .500 and Soroka has quietly emerged as their #2 starter behind Gallen.
Soroka is a top-40 SP rest of season at 53% rostered. The walks have been the only flag (3.2 BB/9) but the contact-suppression has been elite. If he's somehow on your wire, he's a priority claim — especially with the D-backs' offense improving around him.
