The Athletics placed Springs on the 15-day IL, retroactive to Aug. 1, with right-hip discomfort. Earlier imaging found no structural or muscular damage, but the club chose the IL after the hip tightened enough to end his July 26 start in the second inning.

Three straight quality starts including 7 shutout innings against the Yankees. FantasyPros says he's been "performing too well to only be 50% rostered" — agreed. Shallow-league managers should fix this gap.
