What was initially described as a minor lat strain has turned out to be "a lot worse" than the Red Sox originally indicated. Crochet has been out since April 26. A 2026 return is increasingly unlikely. Fantasy managers have been holding long enough — the roster spot is better used.

Crochet was transferred to the 60-day IL after a lat strain was discovered during his shoulder inflammation rehab. He posted a 6.30 ERA with 37 strikeouts in just 30 innings across six starts before shutting down, badly underperforming his 2025 AL Cy Young runner-up form. When asked about a throwing timeline, Crochet told reporters he had 'no idea' — effectively ruling out any realistic fantasy contribution before at least August.

NEW: 15-day IL retroactive to April 26 with left shoulder inflammation. Crochet called it 'fatigue' from his last start and said the team is being preventative. Eligible to return May 11. Is 3-3, 6.30 ERA, but his most recent outing was 6 IP scoreless vs. Baltimore.
