Helsley (elbow inflammation, UCL intact) is out until mid-August at the earliest. Wells posted back-to-back saves July 3-4 and carries a 3.02 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 43:10 K:BB over 41.2 IP. However, the Orioles manager said 'everything is on the table' — Kittredge and Cano are also in the mix. Add Wells everywhere, but consider a small FAAB hedge on Kittredge in deep formats.

Helsley (elbow inflammation, UCL intact) is out for weeks. Wells went 2-for-2 in save chances closing the first half — 3.02 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and a 43:10 K:BB in 41.2 IP. Clear add in all formats. Note: Helsley is expected to avoid surgery and could return mid-second half, so this isn't a season-long answer.

Wells converted both save chances since Ryan Helsley (elbow, 15-day IL) went down and looks like the clear primary option for now. The metrics back him: 3.02 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 43:10 K:BB in 41.2 innings. The watch flag: Helsley has missed time twice this season with the same elbow issue and should return before the trade deadline, at which point Wells reverts to setup. Ride the saves until the Helsley activation notice.

  • Jul 11, 2026·Issue #082·watch

Two saves in two chances since Helsley (elbow) went back on the IL. Wells has a 3.02 ERA and 43:10 K:BB ratio across 41.2 innings — he's earned this opportunity. Add him now, but committee risk remains with Yennier Cano and Andrew Kittredge both capable of ninth-inning appearances.

  • Jul 9, 2026·Issue #080·watch

Two for two since Helsley went on the IL. Strong peripherals (3.02 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 31.9 K-BB% over the last month) and the clear organizational preference — add everywhere.

  • Jul 8, 2026·Issue #079·watch

Immediate successor to the injured Helsley — back-to-back saves, 0.60 WHIP over last 10 outings, 31.9 K-BB% in that stretch. Yennier Cano and Andrew Kittredge provide committee risk, but Wells has the hot hand and manager trust right now. Add in every format.
