MLBTradeRumors · Rotowire · MLB.comSuarez delivered the best start of the 2026 season: 8 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 10 K on 103 pitches as the Red Sox blanked the Blue Jays 5-0. He held Toronto hitless into the sixth and generated 14 swings and misses across five pitch types. It was the first 8+ scoreless, 1-hit-or-fewer start by a Red Sox pitcher since Eduardo Rodriguez in 2016, and the first 10-K game since Jon Lester in 2014.
Fantasy take: Suarez's ERA drops to 3.09 and the pitch mix diversity is what makes this sustainable — five different pitches generating whiffs means hitters can't sit on anything. He should be universally rostered. If someone in your league dropped him during his rocky first two starts, this is the last time he'll be available. Lock him in as a top-20 SP going forward.
The Guardians called up their prized prospect after he slashed .287/.422/.511 with 11 doubles, 2 triples, 2 HR, and an elite 17.9% walk rate at Triple-A Columbus. Bazzana, the #1 overall pick in the 2024 draft out of Oregon State, will slot in as the everyday second baseman with Juan Brito optioned. He's a consensus top-25 prospect per MLB Pipeline, Baseball America, and ESPN.
Fantasy take: Add immediately in all formats. Bazzana's calling card is elite plate discipline — a 17.9% walk rate in Triple-A is absurd, and that translates to immediate OBP value. He's a must-add in OBP/points leagues and a strong add in roto. The hit tool is advanced enough that he should contribute right away. His ownership will spike from 20% to 60%+ this week.
As expected, the Yankees placed Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day IL (backdated to April 25) with a low-grade right calf strain sustained running the bases Friday. He's expected to need 'at least another week' before returning. Stanton was hitting .256/.302/.422 with 3 HR in 96 PA. In his season debut Sunday, Jasson Dominguez went 1-for-4 vs. Texas with Luis Gil also optioned in the corresponding move.
Fantasy take: This confirms what we flagged yesterday: Dominguez gets semi-regular at-bats, likely in the DH role. If you haven't added him yet, do it now — his Triple-A numbers (.306/.404/.471, 15.2% K rate) and the playing time runway make him a top-10 pickup this week. Stanton has required at least one IL trip every season since 2018, so don't count on a quick return.
Mason Miller's Padres-record 34.2 scoreless innings streak ended in the 9th of a 9-7 win over the Cubs — and it started with a blown call. Umpire Dan Merzel ruled Matt Shaw's dribbler down the third-base line fair despite replays showing it was clearly foul. Singles by Dansby Swanson and Pete Crow-Armstrong loaded the bases, and Miller allowed 2 ER before striking out Alex Bregman to end it. He was 7 innings away from the all-time MLB record for relievers.
Fantasy take: Don't overreact. Miller still earned the save and his season line remains elite: 1.26 ERA, 0.56 WHIP, 28:2 K:BB in 14.1 IP. The streak arguably ended on a bad umpire call, not a performance collapse. He's the undisputed closer in San Diego and remains a top-3 fantasy reliever. If a panicking leaguemate tries to sell low, buy immediately.
Munetaka Murakami greeted Angels reliever Drew Pomeranz with a go-ahead 3-run homer to right-center in the 7th inning, capping the White Sox's biggest rally of the season — a seven-run frame that turned a 5-1 deficit into an 8-5 lead in an eventual 8-7 win. Murakami's 12th homer gives him the outright MLB lead, and it came after a three-hour rain delay.
Fantasy take: Murakami is the real deal. Twelve homers through late April from one of the worst lineups in baseball — imagine the RBI numbers if he had actual lineup protection. He's a set-and-forget top-10 fantasy bat. If you're still on the fence after 12 HR in 28 games, you're overthinking it.

Messick flashed elite swing-and-miss stuff with 9 K in 5.2 innings against the Rays in a tough loss. Nine strikeouts in under six innings is a rate that plays in any format. Plate Discipline
The #1 overall pick in 2024 gets the call after mashing at Triple-A with an absurd 17.9% walk rate. He's the everyday 2B in Cleveland immediately. The plate discipline translates from day one — he's a must-add in OBP leagues and a priority add everywhere else. Ownership will triple this week.
C · Detroit Tigers · ~42% owned
Fourth straight day flagging Dingler because the Statcast data keeps screaming louder. His .437 xwOBA is 90 points above his actual .347 wOBA — meaning the results still haven't caught up to the contact quality. A 2025 Gold Glove winner producing elite expected stats is a top-5 fantasy catcher. The buy window is closing fast.

If Suarez somehow remains available in your shallow league after a 10-K shutout gem, grab him before Tuesday waivers process. Five different pitch types generating whiffs, 8 scoreless innings, and only one hit allowed. He's a legit SP2 in 10-team leagues. Ownership should push past 80% this week.
🌱 Stash of the Week
Travis Bazzana — 2B, Cleveland Guardians (~20% owned)
The 2024 #1 overall pick gets his first MLB call after slashing .287/.422/.511 at Triple-A Columbus with a ridiculous 17.9% walk rate and a 21.4% strikeout rate. Bazzana will be Cleveland's everyday second baseman — this isn't a spot start or a temp promotion. The hit tool and discipline are advanced enough that fantasy production should come quickly. He's the top prospect callup of the week and a priority add in all formats, especially OBP/points leagues where the walk rate translates immediately. Add now before the hype machine drives ownership past 50%.

Injury Report
Rotowire · MLBTradeRumors · Beat ReportersIL-10
Officially placed on the 10-day IL (backdated to April 25) with a low-grade right calf strain. Expected to need 'at least another week' before returning. Was hitting .256/.302/.422 with 3 HR in 96 PA. Has required an IL stint every year since 2018.
IL-15
Placed on the 15-day IL retroactive to April 25 with right forearm tendinitis and left ankle inflammation. Forearm tendinitis is always a red flag for a 41-year-old pitcher with his workload history. No timeline has been given, but expect the full 15 days minimum.
DTD
NEW: Left Monday's game against the Dodgers after recording just 1 out, walking 2 and allowing a Shohei Ohtani ground-rule double. Reported numbness in his hand — concerning given his Raynaud's Syndrome diagnosis. If he hits the IL, the Marlins would go to a committee of Calvin Faucher, Anthony Bender, and Tyler Phillips.
IL-10
Left wrist fracture from Saturday's foul tip. Expect 4-6 weeks minimum despite the 10-day IL designation. Was hitting .205 before going down. Travis d'Arnaud is the primary catcher now.
IL-10
Mookie Betts — SS, Los Angeles Dodgers
POSITIVE UPDATE: Betts (oblique, IL since April 5) could begin a minor-league rehab assignment as soon as the May 1-3 weekend. Realistic return around May 5-8. Dave Roberts remains hopeful for a return ahead of the standard 4-6 week oblique timeline.

Scouting Report

Starting Pitcher 2026 Fantasy Rankings Update — April 27th
Sporer's weekly SP rankings update features several massive movers. The biggest riser is Jose Soriano, who jumped 82 spots to #25 ('Must Start' tier) — validating his 0.24 ERA through five starts even as SIERA flags regression risk. Chase Burns rose 37 spots to #21 after a strong start to his rookie campaign, and Joe Ryan climbed 15 spots to #12 on the strength of a 3.90 ERA with improved velocity.
At the top, Shohei Ohtani surged from #13 to #5 behind his otherworldly 0.38 ERA through 4 starts. The Big Three remains Tarik Skubal, Paul Skenes, and Cristopher Sanchez, with Ohtani now knocking on the door of the top tier. Notable fallers include Logan Gilbert (-3, slipping from ace tier) and Max Fried (-2, now #8 after Sunday's gem only partially reversed his slide).
Sporer uses a six-tier system (Ace / Must Start / Usually Start / Team Streamer / Standard Streamer / Lottery Ticket) that's more actionable than raw rankings for start/sit decisions. His key advice: prioritize tier differences over individual ranking positions, especially for borderline SP40-100 arms where the gap between 'start' and 'sit' is razor-thin.
+82 spots to #25Soriano — biggest riser
#13 → #5Ohtani — surging into ace tier
+37 spots to #21Burns — rookie riser
The VerdictThe Soriano ranking is the most actionable item: if you own him, enjoy the ride but know that his 0.28 ERA will regress (see yesterday's scouting report on his SIERA gap). If you're looking to buy, target Burns and Joe Ryan — both are trending up with sustainable improvements. And if Ohtani keeps this up, he'll be the consensus #1 SP by mid-May.

Bullpen Bulletin
Closer Monkey · Beat ReportersSunday's 16-game slate produced 9 saves, 2 blown saves (AL), and 5 losses (NL). Louis Varland earned his 3rd save for the Blue Jays with 4 K in 20 pitches. Jack Perkins picked up save #2 for the Rangers, and Aroldis Chapman earned his 5th for the Red Sox. The Angels bullpen was a disaster again with Drew Pomeranz and Joey Lucchesi both blowing opportunities.

| Louis Varland | TOR | 🟡 Watch | 3rd save Sunday with 4 K in 20 pitches. Jeff Hoffman continues to implode (3 blown saves, 7.59 ERA). Varland has clearly seized the role despite the 'committee' label. Must-add in all leagues — 49% rostered and climbing fast. |
| Pete Fairbanks | MIA | 🟡 Watch | NEW CONCERN: Left Monday's game with numbness in his hand. Has Raynaud's Syndrome history. If he hits the IL, Calvin Faucher leads a committee with Anthony Bender and Tyler Phillips. Monitor daily. |
| Mason Miller | SD | 🟢 Locked | Scoreless streak ended at 34.2 IP on a controversial umpire call, but he still earned the save. Season line: 1.26 ERA, 0.56 WHIP, 28:2 K:BB. Undisputed closer. Don't overreact — top-3 reliever in fantasy. |
| Riley O'Brien | STL | 🔴 Committee | JoJo Romero also blew it Sunday (go-ahead pinch-hit HR). The Cardinals' 9th inning remains a total mess with O'Brien and Romero both failing in save situations. Avoid unless desperate. |
| Bryan Hudson | CWS | 🟡 Watch | Picked up an emergency save in Monday's 8-7 win over the Angels. Seranthony Dominguez remains the primary closer, but Hudson showed he can handle the role if needed. Deep-league stash only. |

X · YouTube · Instagram · TikTokRanger Suarez delivered the pitching performance of the season: 8 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 10 K on 103 pitches. He held Toronto hitless into the sixth and generated 14 swinging strikes across five different pitch types. First Red Sox 10-K outing since Jon Lester in 2014.
If you're trying to decide whether Suarez is a real ace or a mirage after his rocky first two starts, watch this clip. The pitch mix diversity is the key — five different offerings generating whiffs means this isn't a fluke. Lock him in.
Ranger Suarez 10-K masterpiece vs Blue Jays →Aaron Judge went 3-for-3 with HR #11 and two doubles in a 4-2 Yankees win over the Rangers. He and Ben Rice hit back-to-back homers in the 3rd inning, matching Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra for the most back-to-back HR games by Yankees teammates.
Judge is tied for the MLB homer lead with Murakami at 11 (Murakami pushed to 12 later Sunday). The back-to-back stat with Rice is fun trivia, but the fantasy takeaway is that Judge is locked in — 3-for-3 nights don't happen by accident.
Yankees vs Rangers full highlights — Judge 3-for-3 →Munetaka Murakami greeted Drew Pomeranz with a go-ahead 3-run bomb to right-center in the 7th, capping a seven-run White Sox rally to erase a 5-1 deficit. His 12th homer gives him the outright MLB lead — in late April — from the worst lineup in baseball.
Twelve homers through 28 games from a team with no protection is insane production. Murakami is doing this despite pitchers having no reason to throw him anything near the zone. If you still don't have him rostered, this clip should change your mind.
