Called up Aug. 7 after the Kevin Gausman trade. Strong contact skills, elite plate patience, and 20 SB in Triple-A. Value hinges on a leadoff or two-hole role in Toronto's lineup — watch where he bats his first week.

Left his Blue Jays home debut early after just four innings with right forearm discomfort. No IL move was announced as of Monday, but forearm issues carry real escalation risk. Monitor closely before streaming Taillon or making any trade offers this week.

Placed on the IL with meniscus damage in his left knee after leaving his Aug. 4 start against Houston two innings in. A specialist appointment will determine whether surgery is needed; without an operation, a multi-week absence is the minimum. Surgery would end his 2026 season. The Blue Jays' backup rotation options are thin.

Allowed Alex Bregman's game-tying two-run homer for his first blown save, but the hierarchy remains Varland, Tyler Rogers, then Braydon Fisher. Hold him; monitor the declining strikeout rate and note that Rogers is Friday's vulture-save option after Varland worked back-to-back games.

Three saves and a primary setup role in Toronto's bullpen. Gets closeable situations when they arise but is not the designated closer — monitor the Blue Jays ninth inning situation game by game.

Started @ Houston Astros (2W-6L, 5.92 ERA)

Replaced injured Guerrero Jr. on the AL roster and is having arguably his best career season. If he's somehow unclaimed in your shallowest leagues — particularly formats that devalue catcher — grab him immediately. Twenty homers with that OPS makes him a premium two-category contributor.

He makes his 2026 debut tonight but this is less about streaming and more about stashing. Bieber showed 92.6 mph on his four-seamer when he returned late last season, and his 37:7 K:BB over 40 innings demonstrated the command and pitch execution are still there post-Tommy John. At 22% owned he's sitting in waiver territory despite being one of the best pure-command pitchers in baseball when healthy. Buy the debut, hold through the velocity report — if he's in the 92-94 range tonight, he's a legitimate SP2 for the back half.

Varland leads Toronto's closer committee with 14 saves after the Blue Jays benched Jeff Hoffman from the ninth-inning role. The current hierarchy is Varland, then Tyler Rogers, then Hoffman — and Varland is claiming roughly 55–60% of save opportunities when he's pitching well. He struck out the side Wednesday in 10 pitches for his 14th save. Not locked in, but the clear #1 arm in the committee. Add in any format if he's available.

Kirk returned from thumb surgery June 12 and went 3-for-3 with an RBI in his first game back. He is a career .270/.345/.430 hitter with elite walk rates and two All-Star appearances — rare for a catcher to provide that floor with power upside. With Daulton Varsho now also on the IL, Kirk is Toronto's everyday backstop. If somehow available in your shallow league, that is an immediate pickup.

Left hamstring strain, exited a start against Pittsburgh in the fifth inning. Classified mild-to-moderate by Toronto; he threw a 25-to-30 pitch bullpen afterward as a positive early sign. A 3–4 week return is realistic and could put him back before the All-Star break.

Re-emerged as Toronto's closer with back-to-back dominant outings — 0.69 WHIP, 9 strikeouts in 4.1 innings, two saves. His overall ERA is unimpressive but the recent work is the real signal. The Blue Jays are competing; save opportunities will keep coming.

Exited his May 25 start vs. Pittsburgh in the fifth inning with a left hamstring strain. Manager Schneider described it as mild and expects a return around the IL minimum, but pitchers and hamstrings are unpredictable — realistically target June 8 or later. Cease had been solid: 3.05 ERA, 92 K, 1.21 WHIP across 62 innings.

Exited his May 25 start vs. Pittsburgh in the fifth inning with a left hamstring strain. Manager Schneider called it mild and the Blue Jays expect a return around the 15-day minimum, but hamstrings in pitchers are unpredictable. Cease had been excellent this year — 3.05 ERA, 92 Ks, 1.21 WHIP across 62 innings.

CONFIRMED: 15-day IL with left hamstring strain. FanGraphs estimates a 2-3 week absence based on injury reports. Tanner Andrews selected from Triple-A to fill the rotation spot. Cease's underlying numbers were strong (3.45 ERA / 27.8% K) so the rest-of-season outlook remains top-25 SP.

UPDATE: Vlad's right elbow contusion is still day-to-day. He could return tonight vs. Miami per Schneider. X-rays were negative; numbness has subsided. No IL stint planned yet. Monitor lineup cards closely; if he sits more than one more game, prep an IL slot.

Pitcher List's top hitter add. Varsho's power has fully arrived — 7 HRs through his last 18 games with a .377 ISO and a 9th-percentile barrel rate. He's moved to the 3-hole in Toronto, which means counting stat volume will follow. Top-30 OF rest of season ceiling; the BA will hurt you but the HR/SB combo is rare.

NEW: Left Sunday's start in the 5th with a sore left hamstring (76 pitches). MRI today. Schneider was optimistic post-game: 'all the early testing seemed pretty positive.' Cease himself thought he might not miss his next start. Risk profile: a Grade 2 hamstring would mean 4-6 weeks; a mild strain might cost only one start.

Started vs Miami Marlins (2W-1L, 1.07 ERA)

NEW: Took a Mitch Keller sinker off the right elbow Sunday and was immediately replaced. X-rays negative for fracture, diagnosed as a contusion with reported numbness in arm/hand. Manager Schneider says he could return tonight vs. Miami. Monitor closely; if he sits more than 2 games, IL stint is realistic.

Recorded his 4th save Friday but it was his first since April 20. A full month without a save opportunity — with no injury explanation — is a red flag. Ryan Zeferjahn stepped into the closer role after Jordan Romano's DFA and could still challenge. Blue Jays' save situation is murkier than it looks.

Right elbow inflammation. Threw two innings in a Complex League rehab appearance and is targeting a mid-June return. With Bowden Francis out for the season (Tommy John surgery, February), Toronto's rotation has almost no depth — stream aggressively against their patchwork starters.
